"Balut volcano, also known as Sanguil, occupies a small island in the Sarangani Island group south of the Batulaki Peninsula forming the southern tip of Mindanao Island. Hot springs and thermally altered ground are located on the west and SW flanks of the 862-m-high volcano, which rises about 1800 m above the sea floor. Reports in Mindanao of a major eruption in 1641 from an unknown volcano to the south, which caused darkness over much of Mindanao, were originally attributed to Balut volcano. Later work indicated that the source of the eruption was Parker volcano on southern Mindanao, about 80 km NW of Balut Island."  -Smithsonian Volcano Archive
