Unnamed
"Sapper (1917) mentioned a submarine eruption in 1867 a little NE of the northern tip of Taiwan at 25.4 degrees N and 122.2 degrees E. Sapper included no description of this event, and its nature is uncertain. A magnitude 7.0 earthquake on December 18, 1867 generated a tsunami killing several hundred persons along the northern coast of Taiwan and had an epicenter not far from the reported location of the submarine eruption. The implications of the coincidental spatial and temporal juxtaposition of these two events are not known."  -Smithsonian Volcano Archive
